FREEBIE THROUGH DECEMBER!

December is a time when students get a little "antsy" as they look forward to a little break. Rather than resort to busy work, I like to mix things up a bit with some higher level thinking strategy lessons based on a holiday theme. Here is an engaging "What am I? Christmas/Holiday Inferring the Ornament Thinktivity:

Use these cards as a fun, meaningful December inferring lesson! Enjoy and learn the week before break or the day of Winter Break as part of a class party. Infer the ornament based on the clues. This comprehension activity teaches and reinforces the fact that inferences aren't always confirmed...they our our "best guesses" based on clues.

The activity ends with a lesson where students make their own "What Am I" Ornament card for their classmates to try...use them in an independent learning station or as a large group activity where the class gets to infer the ornament.

Even though we have just a short time before winter break, we can still push our students to use higher level thinking skills in engaging and meaningful ways!
